Scholarship, Bursary, and Student Aid Information

These scholarships are specifically for students enrolled at Jobworks.
Reminder: scholarships' application deadline is March 19th, 2010.
Please see the next pages for specific scholarship criteria and application form.
University of Manitoba CHOWN Scholarship - Criteria
- Students must be graduating and have an average of 85% in the 5 subjects needed to enter University of Manitoba (U of M). If applicant is unsure whether their final average mark will be 85% (apply anyway) - upgrading students are not eligible
- Student must apply for the scholarship
- Students who are graduating grade 12 in December and are already enrolled in University for January session may apply to receive a scholarship for the following September U of M session.
- Students who are already enrolled in University prior to January may not apply.
- Students who are challenging courses (PLAR) may also apply for the scholarship.
- All applicants must provide the Scholarship Committee with an official high school transcript if we don't already have one.
- Students must include a proper academic essay (500 words maximum) which contain all of the following:
- why the applicant should receive the $500 scholarship
- special challenges the applicant has overcome (emotional need)
- demonstrate financial need
- applicant's goals/future plans
- examples of good character, good citizenship, leadership and/or volunteering
- Students need one letter of recommendation from someone outside the school who is not a relative.
- Scholarships are awarded at graduation in June
- The application deadline is Friday, March 19th, 2010

Jobworks Grade 12 Adult Scholarship - Criteria
- Students must be graduating grade 12 in the current year and have an average of 70% in 4 Grade 12 subject areas including English 40S and Math 40S at the end of April. If applicant is unsure whether their final average mark will be 70% (apply anyway).
- Students must apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants need to be enrolled within 2 years after graduation with a 60% course load at: RRCC, WTC, U of M, U of W or any other college in Manitoba, Canada or outside Canada. Recipients of the scholarship need to provide proof (a letter) stating they have been accepted and are on the waiting list - must be an original letter from the university or college.
- Students who are graduating grade 12 in December and are already enrolled in University/College for January session may apply to receive a scholarship for the following September session at the previously mentioned universities/colleges.
- Students who are challenging courses (PLAR) may also apply for the scholarship. The committee must receive an official high school transcript from the applicant.

- Students must be upgrading at least two grade 12 courses in the current year and have an average of 75% in those Grade 12 subject areas at the end of April. If applicant is unsure whether their final average mark will be 75% (apply anyway).
- Students must apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants need to be enrolled within 2 years after graduation with a 60% course load at: RRCC, WTC, U of M, U of W or any other college in Manitoba, Canada or outside Canada.
